Ok, so I am seriously looking at these two tractors and was heavily leaning towards the 4110. (have yet to decide on hydro vs. gear as some of you may be aware :) ) But...
The 2210 has lower price and more HP with hydro but does not have turning brakes, the 4110 gear is $2k more ($3.5k more with hydro) but actually HAS turning brakes (what serious tractor does not have turning brakes?), more weight, lift cap. and hydraulics. Here is the thing that really blows me away - the load capacities of the "bigger" 4110 has technically wimpier axles. Here are the specs from the manuals on JD site:
2210:
Rear Axle Maximum Load 1415 kg (3120 lb)
Front Axle Maximum Load 1415 kg (3120 lb)
4110:
Rear Axle Maximum Load 1100 kg (2426 lb)
Front Axle Maximum Load 610-750 kg (1345-1654 lb)
Funny how the 4110 can lift 1150 lbs. and is a true Cat.1 and is even spec'd for a small backhoe where the 2210 is "limited" Cat.1 with a lift of only 700 lbs. but the axles on the 2210 are, on paper, according to the website, technically....far more rugged on the 2210, especially the front axle which is rated for over TWICE the weight which I care about as much of my work is loader work.
This is poor and has me wondering a little about JD.

No answer here, but some rambling thoughts.
The longer an axle is the less load it will carry. Perhaps the wider track of the 4110 is the reason for the lesser rating. In any case, if the axle is rated adequately to support the required load what does it matter? I like things overbuilt too, but there's a point where overbuilding adds costs without associated benefits. You don't read about these axles breaking so it probably doesn't matter.

Yeah, Mark is probably right - they screw this stuff up all the time. Not sure where you got those numbers but you might find different numbers in the online manuals on their web site. ....

I just checked the sales manual specs, nd the 4110 specs you have are correct. The 2210 is listed as 750 pounds on the front axle and 2426 on the rear. I hope that clears it up for you. ....

I am more concerned about the front tires than the axle. They really puff out with a full bucket load of topsoil. Maybe foam filling would calm my fears. ....

Guys like I said in my post I got the number directly off the JD website owners manuals....I hope it is a simple mistake and yes it technically doesn't matter if the axle in the 4110 is up to the task.....but would it not bother you a little buying a brand new 3/4 ton pickup for $25k if you knew that the same factory specs "claimed" that their cheaper $20k 1/2 ton truck axles were rated for MORE weight???
Hence my concern.....
ps Thanks for the replies and the numbers quoted from the sales books make more sense to me, thanks. Too bad JD can't get the numbers right on the website if it is indeed a mistake....

That is one thing that really concerns me, mistakes. At least we think they are. I've read numerous specs on numerous brands of tractor and they all seem to be full of them.
I just don't get it. It seems as if the sites, brochures and even Operators Manuals are put together by a bunch of freshman college kids (sometimes 6th graders). ....
